A healthy 56-year-old male presents with a 6-month history of bilateral hand numbness and pain, neck stiffness, and bilateral positive Hoffman reflex. His MRI is reported as having C5/C6 ventral cord compression from a bulging disc with no associated signal change within the spinal cord. The cord is surrounded by CSF but has a deformed path. What is the most appropriate next step in management?
